ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

Belief Statement:

Students at Sayles School will reach their highest potential by becoming proficient readers and writers in order to be college and career ready. Students will gain essential skills in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written and oral expression. Students will use critical thinking skills to comprehend and analyze diverse literature to gain a strong understanding of the world around them. They will communicate effectively with a rich vocabulary to ensure success in life.

They will show perseverance and reasoning in their critical thinking by interpreting mathematical information and confidently solving real-world application problems to ensure success in life.

Belief Statement:

Students at Sayles School will reach their highest potential in becoming curious and observant scientific students in order to become college and career ready. Students will develop the skills necessary for inquiring, discovering, experimenting and analyzing in order to connect these skills to the world around them. They will develop communication skills in order to share their ideas throughout the scientific process.

SOCIAL STUDIES

Belief Statement:

Students at Sayles School will become global citizens and active partners in their community. Through the development of critical thinking and analytical skills, students will develop knowledge, skills and dispositions to participate in the world around them. Students will effectively engage and exercise their civic responsibilities. In addition, students will gain an appreciation and awareness of our history.
