About Us

Sayles School is located in rural southeastern Connecticut.

While physically located in the village of Baltic, the school encompasses all of the Town of Sprague; including the villages of Hanover and Versailles.

The Sayles School Preschool Program is legally exempt from child care licensing and, as such, is not required to meet licensing standards.

Connecticut General Statutes, Section 19a-77(b)(1)(A) provides that a program administered by a public school system is not required to be licensed to operate.


  • Preschool - 8 (Currently 275 +/- Students)
  • Grade 9 - 12 (Currently 150 +/- Students)

Calendar Year: August - June 

Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 

Arrival / Dismissal Times: Opening exercises are at 8:35 A.M.  (Students are considered tardy after 8:35 A.M.)

Full-Day Dismissal: 3:00 P.M.

Early Release Dismissal: 1:00 P.M.

Scheduled Early Dismissal (Due to holidays, parent conferences, etc.)   

  • Grades K-8

On scheduled early release days, dismissal is at 1:00 P.M.

  • PreSchool Only

A.M. children will arrive at their regular time and will be dismissed at 10:15 A.M.

P.M. children will arrive for 11:00 A.M. and will be dismissed at 1:00 P.M.
