Salary Range: $55,000 - $64,000

Job Description:

The job of the Superintendent of the Sprague Public School District is to lead and inspire all members of the district community to provide high quality education experiences for all learners in the town of Sprague.

Job Qualifications:

  • Hold a current CT Superintendent Certification

  • Prior experience as a leader in a school district

  • Experience developing educational budgets

  • Experience writing grants

  • Ability to develop long range goals and strategic plans

  • Exemplary communication skills with a variety of stakeholders

  • Strong understanding of diverse communities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicates needs, issues and operations of the Sprague Public School District to the Board of Education

  • Implement policies approved by the Board of Education and make recommendations when appropriate

  • Provide leadership to move the district forward using long range strategic plans

  • Collaborate with building administrators on daily, yearly, and monthly operations

  • Establish a working relationship with community leaders, including Board of Finance members to communicate district successes, challenges and needs and how best to meet those needs

  • Work with the Board of Education in Sprague as well as neighboring communities to investigate possible regionalization of small districts

  • Encourage active engagement between the school and the Sprague Community

  • Strive to promote positive climate development in the district
